1. 토끼 출혈병

 

 토끼출혈병은 1984년에 중국에서 최초로 발생하여 국내에는 1985년부터 발생한 질병이다. Calicivirus가 원인으로 전 염기서열이 밝혀졌고 실험적감염후 30시간만에 토끼가 사망하는 급성 바이러스성 질병이며 간염과 산재성 혈관내 응고증이 사인이다. 본 연구실에서는 토끼출혈병의 병리발생기전을 연구하여 다음과 같은 연구결과를 발표하였다. Calicivirus에 감염된 토끼는 간에서 염증반응이 일어나기 전부터 hepatocytes가 apoptosis를 일으키고 그 결과 주화인자의 방출과 위호산구가 폭발적 으로 유주하며 산재성 혈관내 응고증이 뒤따르게 된다.

 2. 돼지 질병


 
돼지는 인간에게 장기이식을 하기에 적합한 실험동물로서 기본적인 질병의 모니터링이 필요하다. 본 연구실에서는 돼지의 PED와 Helicobacter감염에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있다.

3. 애완조류의 질병 및 조류 독성시험

 

 애완조류의 각종 감염병에 관한 병리학적인 진단을 수행하고 있다. 한편 조류는 농약의 개발단계에서 독성시험을 수행하는데 실험동물로서 유용하게 이용되고 있다. 본 연구실에서는 유기인제의 지연성 신경독성, 급성독성 및 식이성 독성시험을 수행하고 있다.

4. 실험동물의 질병 및 미생물모니터링

 

 소형설치류의 질병과 실험동물의 생산시설에 대한 미생물모니터링에 대한 연구는 실험동물학에서는 가장 기본적인 연구분야이다. 유전자 조작마우스를 생산하는데도 배경동물의 건강상태에 따라 형질발현이 틀리게 되므로 항상 모니터링을 하여 연구결과에 재현성을 유지해야한다.
